Week 12

This is the last week of the 1st trimester and I can't believe how fast time has passed!
This week was definitely better than the last one; my nausea is almost gone and I don't feel as tired as I had been feeling. I have lost a total of 10lbs, which is not so bad....I actually enjoy wearing my "regular" jeans and not having to dig up my maternity pants.
My appetite is decent so I am not overeating.... I'm actually starting to enjoy this pregnancy.
This coming Friday I will have a special genetic test done. It's called the Nuchal Translucency and it's a test that has become standard practice for many doctors; it's done to measure the probabilities of the baby having a genetic disorder. I'm a bit anxious but not too bad! :)

Week 11

This has been by far one of the worst weeks of this pregnancy...one of those that I would like to forget! It started out ok, with the usual nausea, fatigue and upset stomach. I had my 2nd prenatal appointment on Monday and the dr. said everything looked perfect; I even got a great ultrasound picture and got to see the baby's heartbeat, which was almost 170bpm...what a great feeling... Then today when I got up I felt like "crap"...literally.... I started throwing up even though I hadn't eaten anything; this continued throughout the morning. At around 1pm, I decided to go to the ER, to prevent any issues. My blood pressure was very low and I was dehydrated because of all the vomiting. They had my on IV fluids for a while and then I was let go.... I continued throwing up at home and drank a bunch of Pedialyte to help me hydrate. Good thing is that baby is OK and nothing major happened... What a rough week!

Week 10

This week was much easier than the last one. I'm still having morning sickness and lots of heartburn, but the throwing up is better now. I'm still taking Zofran to help me with all the nausea, but sometimes that doesn't even work. Most of the time I'm very fatigued and all I want to do is either sleep or just lay down, however, with my life style that's not possible. Within the next two weeks I will be done with the first trimester and I will begin the "easy" part of the pregnancy. I must say that although I haven't felt 100% well, time has been flying by!!!

Week 9

I'm now at the end of week 9! What a horrible week this has been! After being nauseous for about 3 straight weeks, week 9 was all about throwing up...how fun is that! Thursday and Friday were the worst two days since I couldn't keep anything down; I was even afraid to eat thinking that it would all come back up if I even moved! Thankfully the first trimester is almost over and I hope to feel better once I hit 12 weeks!

Week 8

This week was very rough, not only because of the regular nausea, heartburn and fatigue, but also because I had a very bad cold that kept me in bed for a few days. Recently I started taking Zofran, a prescription medication that my doctor prescribed to help me cope with the nausea... what a miracle drug!... it made me feel so much better....
I haven't gained any weight yet but my belly is bloated, so much that I'm already wearing maternity jeans since my regular pants make me feel uncomfortable...
This week went by really fast, I certainly hope the rest of the pregnancy goes just as fast!

Week 7

I'm at the end of week 7 and things have NOT improved at all. I have never felt this sick before and it is just killing me! I'm nauseous all day, every day and extremely fatigued. Lately I have been having a lot of nose bleeds as well and just a general feeling of sickness. I have tried eating saltine crackers, drinking ginger ale, preggie pops and everything you can imagine. I finally got prescription Zofran, which is supposed to help me...hopefully it will.. and it better be soon!
I'm already wearing maternity pants, simply because I could not take the discomfort of tight pants around my waist... it's all part of the journey.
My next prenatal appointment is scheduled for January 5th; hopefully I will feel a lot better by then!

Week 6

I'm at the end of week 6 and I'm sad to report that I haven't been feeling well at all! My nausea is almost unbearable and I'm so fatigued during the day that I can barely get out of bed in the morning. This has been a very rough week...
On the bright side, I had my first prenatal visit today and it went great! I even go to see the baby and all. My mom came with me and we both saw the little flicker. The doctor said the heartbeat looks strong and everything is perfect, including size and appearance. Things should be fine. My next appointment will be in January, I'll be almost done with the 1st trimester. I'm so happy today!!!
